Louis Sutter Work Day - 7.13.14
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSOR FRESH & EASY GROCERY STORE (SILVER AVE.) FOR THEIR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION! SKIRT STEAK SANDWICHES, DRINKS, CHIPS AND SAM ADAMS FOR ALL WHO BRAVED THE MUDDY WATERS OF LAKE MCNAB!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Approximately 40 volunteers braved the muck and clean out a sizable portion of McNab Lake in Louis Sutter Park. All the moss, some graffiti, and plenty of dirt and spider webs was cleaned off the play structure there as
well. Thank you to member and hard working volunteer Bill Murphy for the refreshing Sam Adams relief station, which came in handy on such a hot day.
More hands make light work so please join us next time we do it again! (Winter 2013)
PS -
Member Bill Yelda asked me to let anyone who is interested know that he will be at McNab Lake every Thursday between 9 and noon working to remove any new weeds from the lake and welcomes any extra helpers who
care to join him.

Gambier and Burrows - Plaza Renovation Workday - 11.13.10

Thanks to all the volunteers who came to work toward the revitalization of this very neglected park entrance. The weather couldn't have been better. The turnout was incredible. There was hardly a shovel left for the volunteers at one point. The food was awesome.
A special thanks to our good friend and chef Bob Lopez, our childcare specialist and neighbor Jeannie Crawford, tile expert and neighbor Martin who's grout instruction will help us throughout the mosaic tile project, RPD's best Zack Taylor, Robert Watkins and crew who went through extraordinary efforts to remove the incredibly heavy pressure treated bollards out of the ground, to the kids from BuildOn who persevered until every last load of sand was removed that afternoon, to all our members, neighbors and friends who collectively made this project such a big success (you all know who you are...there's just too many names to mention everyone here), and to Sunset Scavengers for the donated debris box's.
The next steps are already under way. The new benches/bbq's are being ordered using SF Beautiful/Parks Trust grant money as well as private monies donated to the group by neighbors. Soon the decomposed granite will be delivered and then the landscaping and a center piece will be installed probably on another workday. Thank You!

Jerry Day at McLaren Park -8.1.10
We were invited to put together and work a community booth for Jerry Day by Tom Murphy, one of the creators of Jerry Day itself. It was a lot of fun and we had many sign ups as well. Thanks to Sue Zimmer and her amazing daughter Samantha for helping me out and to all the many visitors who came by to say hello.
Community Meeting/Peru St. Playground - 7.31.10
Saturdays event was well attended. If you include a few late comers and all the kids, we had 51 attendees! An awesome turnout... so a big thank you to all who braved the terrible SF summer weather to come and help be a part of the new design for the Peru St playground. And like always, if you made it, you would have been pleasantly surprised on how much nicer the conditions were, weather-wise, at this location. One of the big reasons why we are going forth with this site.
For any of you who missed last Saturdays meeting, you will have another chance to fine tune the design on August 21st when we meet once again at the Peru St play area to see the preliminary designs by Leslie Golden. So please mark your calendars!

Pancake Breakfast - 6.27.10
A big thanks to all who stepped up to help. Barbara, Alfredo, our neighbor, started bright and early and made a huge difference. Thanks to Mellie for being such a great hostess and cashier. Thanks once again, to Joe, Linda Heart and Linda Deviro for coming through. Lastly, thanks to our old fireman pal Pat Buddington for working the skillet and getting those sausages cooked to perfection.
Thanks of course to our incredible sponsors who donated the money needed to feed everyone. Firefighters Local 798, Rainbow Grocery, Trader Joes, Daniel Flores (Flores Law Firm) & Yield Wine Bar (3rd & 22nd street)
AND LASTLY, A BIGGEST THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO ATTENDED TO MAKE IT SUCH A HUGE SUCCESS!!!
The best part of this event was the amazing warmth we shared with both new friends and old neighbors. What an incredible feeling!

McLaren Park Clean Up Day - 6.12.10
Just a big thank you to all who came out to help pull weeds on this incredibly beautiful day. We were all blessed with shade and a warm breeze to help keep us cool.
Though it was a huge sucess and we made great progress, we werent able to finish the task unfortunately, so it looks like we need a repeat. The park gardeners feel that one more work party might be enough to get us through the summer. The date isn't set but were looking at 1 month from now approximately.
THANK YOU!
